Cruising To Thailand

Firstly a huge thankyou to my friends for all of your comments - you guys rock!!

After a week at Sembawang in Singapore, with lots of swimming and eating, we had to leave our big, quiet house behind and continue on our big trip. Next stop: Cruise City!

We got on our cruise on the 21st of February and got off 3 days later in Thailand. It was really very nice although I must say there were a lot of loud Indian kids who were roaming the ship without supervision. The shows were very good (magic and cabaret) and the food was excellent.

From where we boarded the ship at deck 5 up to the taverna and pool area on deck 13 is just like a big floating hotel. The ship had 10 restaurants and 4 pools (although only two main pools) and a massive water slide that only my Dad went on. There were loads of fun activities and things to do so we were always entertained. We were balcony class so we could sit outside and look over the edge and see everything below us, including lots of jellyfish just bobbing around in the ocean.

Some of the entertainment included a quiz where one of the questions was name 5 primary colours – the answers included white and black but not blue or red!! Some Indian boys won the quiz although I got a medal given to me for being the only quiet kid there!

Overall it was breathtaking and I would certainly do it again. When we got off the ship it was just as good though as we came to Phuket and it is also amazing. It has great beaches and apart from getting sun burnt we have enjoyed it so far.

Here we are staying in a place called the Amanta House which is really nice and it’s only a 2 minute walk to Patong beach which is quite a funny beach really. First you pay a man 80 Baht ($2.65) to put an umbrella over your chosen sun lounge. Next you swim and then you sit on your sun lounge and laugh at all of the people walking up and down the beach with G-Strings and no tops on – they’re usually European who have really dark tans. When we went on the first day we fell asleep (we were up late on our last night on the ship in the Karaoke lounge!) and through the umbrellas we got burnt.

Thailand is very busy and there are so many types of transport zooming around. There are also lots of dogs over here that look like Dingoes which if you touch them feel disgusting. Parts of Patong do have a bazaar smell which smells kind of like sewerage. There are also a lot of motorbikes over here which people are able to fit 4 people on if they try. We decided to just walk everywhere because it is so chaotic.

Another thing I have noticed is how warm the water is over here – it is a perfect temperature and is very enjoyable to swim in. In the sun when swimming you can see fish (some quite long) through the crystal clear water.

This is now the fourth country on this trip and for me they have all been great so I can’t wait to continue.
